TGTJust like any mighty ship (aside from, you know, The Titanic) gets a shakedown cruise before it officially launches, Webcomic Hell is going to go on it’s maiden voyage on Monday, November 30th.  Joining us will be Kurt Sasso (Vertigo_X), the current master and commander of another much more established webcomic podcast, TGT Webcomics.

While I’ve got him on board, we’re going to talk about staffing.  Like, for example, how many people does it really take to run a webcomic, or for that matter, a webcomic podcast?  Or how many webcomic artists does it take to screw in a lightbulb?  And what exactly are you supposed to do if you loose a team member?  Tune in to the thrilling first (and quite possibly last) episode of Webcomic Hell to find out!

We’re recording on TalkShoe… I’ll be hanging around starting at about 9:30 PM, and we’ll hopefully get the ball rolling around 10 PM.  Anybody who wants to loiter is welcome to do so… who knows, I may even put you on if you’ve got something relevant to say.  Or, if you’re just interesting.  Or I get distracted.

Hey everybody, podcast-master-general Adam here…

As you can probably guess, I’m starting my own podcast… and I’m looking for some guests to help us get off the ground.

The podcast, entitled “Webcomic Hell”, is designed to be a topic-driven humorous focus on problems, issues, and mistakes that webcomic artists and authors encounter while making their comics. Ideally, while the guests may know something about the specific topic, we’re not really talking about your own comic so much as we are talking about overall webcomic theory (Don’t worry, there’ll still be plenty of chances to talk about and plug your own projects).

Right now, since it’s still really wide open and I don’t have a bunch of people bugging me to be guests (assuming this ever happens) the sky’s the limit to who or what we talk about. I don’t anticipate we’ll stay much on topic anyway, the opening topics are really just a jumping off point. The plan (as it stands right now) is that we’ll be recording monday evenings through Talk Shoe, weekly or bi-monthly, and will welcome call-in and chat interaction.

Also, since this isn’t specifically based on your own comic or it’s place in the webcomic universe, as long as you’re smart, funny, and/or fairly well-read in webcomics I can use you as a guest, even if your comic is dead, on permenent hiatus, or just plain ol’ sucks.

Some sample topics might be:

  • So You’ve Just Killed Your Main Character… Now What?
  • Help, I Just Realized My Comic is a Clone of Another, Much More Successful Comic
  • The End: Wrapping Up and Retiring a Comic Gracefully
  • The 6 Characters You Meet in Webcomic Hell
  • Fear and Loathing on Hiatus: How to come back from an extended and unexpected abandonment
  • Not My Comic (wherein I ask the guest embarrasingly pointed questions about things that happened in someone else’s webcomic)

That sort of thing. If any of those test topics speak to your personal expertise or experience, or if you have an idea you’d like to front, please let me know. I’ve got a couple of test guests lined up so hopefully I should be able to give you a slightly more concrete examples.
