This isn't a post I wanted to make. Not even a little. But The Apple of Discord is taking a break, at least for a couple months, possibly forever. No, no, don't get all teary eyed on me, it's for everyone's good. I tried to pull the trigger back in April, but there were a lot of you who were very supportive, so I figured I'd give it another go once the new site got up and running. That, too, has failed.
Basically, my brain hasn't been putting out the right sort of ideas for AoD - I'm still making with the funny, but I'm thinking less and less like I used to do when AoD was at it's prime... that's right, apparently, I've used up my supply of dick and fart jokes. And to be honest, I'd rather stop making the comic than continue and hammer out crap that I don't enjoy making and you don't enjoy reading just for the sake of beating a dead horse.
Instead, I'm going to try a few new things. Remember how I said I still had "the funny", it just wasn't "the right funny" for AoD? Well, some of it will be leaking out in a new comic I'm working on called "Webcomic Hell [1]" - Webcomic Hell incorporates several things I've tried (and failed) to do over the years... it's one part Journal comic, one part me ranting about philosophical shit, one part the failed Sofa King experiment from 2010. And while it's shorter (going for three panels) it updates 5x a week (currently, anyway). In many ways, it's basically AoD 2.0, just in a smaller format and with a different focus.
In addition, I'll be botbuilding, working on writing that book that I've been putting off for ages, and maybe one day finishing the goddamn Bakachibimon card game. Who knows.
I recommend you grab the RSS feed for AoD and tuck it in your "dormant comics" or "no longer updating" section and check back in a couple months. I won't return until I know I have at least a couple months' worth of material built up, so if AoD is coming back, I intend for it to back for a while. Also, it never hurts to follow me on Twitter [2] or the new, shiny Google+. [3]
